It’s a wonderful view from my window in my studio where I’m sitting at the computer doing admin work :(. All of a sudden, I looked out and found myself in awe at the beautiful pink sky, especially since it was a really gray day. This sky makes up for it, though … I have…
November live-stream online workshops are live. Lots of options and dates/times to choose from. I hope to see you on the other side of Zoom.
Good morning, It’s sunny today and windy. I can see the trees with their wonderful fall colours moving with the wind. All those reds, yellows, oranges and greens moving in unison. 2020 is giving us a fantastic fall season. No snow in the horizon! And the temperatures are wonderful for this time of the year!…
Two new live-stream online classes are being offered in October: Sophisticated Monoprinting on October 1st and TAP – Transfer Artist Paper on October 6th
Another great course launched! So excited to be offering this 3–hour workshop which is a favourite of mine. Different techniques will be shown to add design to fabric using Paintstiks, which are oil paint in a stick form. During the early part of the course, students will work on preparing rubbing plates to use with…

“Circles in Red” is my contribution to SAQA’s 2020 Benefit Auction. The proceeds help support exhibition programs, publications and education outreach.
A couple of weeks ago I had the great honour of recording a Podcast for the new Quilting Arts Podcast https://www.quiltingdaily.com/the-art-of-repetition-quilting-arts-podcast-episode-4/ which is the new venture by Susan Brubaker Knapp and Vivika Denegre both well known from Quilting Arts Magazine and Quilting Arts TV. We met one morning in Zoom to talk about the art…
I ordered and then waited, and waited and waited a bit more and finally, the package arrived in my mailbox. Three pieces of fabric from a test I sent to Spoonflower, and today, the fourth piece arrived. I’m quite pleased with the results, but happy too that I ordered 1 yard of each fabric to…
I love deconstructed screen printing, as the results are always unpredictable. It is possible to over print, use a different screen, turn the one you are using 90 degrees to get a different design, and turn it once again to get something different once more.
Have you ever tried experimenting with Paintstiks? Do you know what they are? Shiva (that’s the brand in the US or Markal in the UK) are oil paints in a crayon form. They are made of wax, a small amount of low-acid linseed oil and pigment. When the paints are not in use, they form…
I haven’t written a blog in a long time … and yes, it’s been quite a while. A lot has happened since that last post at the end of the year. I’ve been quite active posting on Instagram (which now you can access from my website by clicking on the icon at the top right)…
And this is what happens when you are getting ready for an exhibit and sale of work: frames get painted, pieces get mounted, artists’ statements get written and prices get figured out. Art Calgary takes place between November 28th and December 1st (see previous post) and there are lots of moving parts happening behind the…
I know it’s been ages since I’ve posted any news here. I try to keep up with Instagram, Facebook and Twitter as it seems to be easier and faster. But … I know I need to keep up with my website too. I wanted to tell you all about Art Calgary, which is “Calgary’s first…
