SAQA Benefit Auction
Another first for me for 2020! I contributed a piece to the SAQA Benefit Auction this year, and I’m happy to say that it arrived in time and safely to be included in the catalogue for this year’s auction which will take place from September 11th to October 4th. Go to https://www.saqa.com/auction for a preview of the 495 art pieces that were donated this year arranged by last name.
If you’ve never heard of the Benefit Auction, this is from SAQA’s website:
The annual Benefit Auction is SAQA’s premiere fundraising event! All proceeds help support SAQA’s exhibition programs, publications, and education outreach. Plus, your purchase helps increase the recognition for art quilts and the artists who make them. With almost 500 pieces of beautiful artwork available for bidding, there is something for everyone to enjoy! The 2020 auction will take place online from September 11 through October 4.
And … (drumroll …) here is “Circles in Red”
“Circles in Red” is 12″ x 12″. I used a piece of one of my hand-dyed fabrics. The black strip with circles on the right hand side is done with a rubbing plate with circles and Paintstiks. The bottom three circles are hand-embroidered with a variegated 12-weight thread by Valdani and the rest of the hand-stitching was done using – once again – 12-weight thread by Aurifil this time.
Mark the calendar for the dates of the Auction. Each week they will post a set of art pieces to be auctioned. I hope you purchase one, or two, or a few!
Thanks for reading. Keep creating!
