Upcoming Classes for October and November
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends and readers!
I hope you are enjoying a lovely long weekend, perhaps spending time with family and friends, sharing a good meal, or simply taking a little time for yourself. Whatever your plans, I hope your weekend brings you a little joy and something to be thankful for.
As we settle into autumn here in Calgary, with cooler days and some snow, I’ve been busy preparing some wonderful opportunities for us to spend time together making things. I’ve got several classes coming up over the next few weeks, and I’d love to share them with you!
Whether you prefer working in the comfort of your own home or joining me in my studio, I hope you will find something that inspires you!
Stitched Botanicals — October 29
A live online workshop via Zoom
Do you have a collection of small fabric pieces, lace, ribbons, trims, and little treasures that you just can’t bear to throw away? I certainly do! Sometimes, the most interesting pieces are the ones we have tucked away, waiting for the right project to come along.
In Stitched Botanicals, we’ll explore layering, texture, and slow stitching to create a beautiful botanical-inspired textile page. We’ll combine fabrics and other materials, experiment with composition, and use hand stitching to bring the layers together.
This is a live, four-hour workshop via Zoom, so you can join me from wherever you are. You will receive a supply list to help you gather materials, most of which you may already have at home. An optional kit is available if you would like a little extra help getting ready.
A recording is also available as an add-on for registered students, so you can revisit the techniques and demonstrations after the live session.
If you enjoy working with fabric, discovering unexpected combinations, and allowing a piece to develop through the process of making, I would love to have you join me.

Come Sit With Me — November 7
An in-studio workshop
Sometimes, we need to give ourselves permission to slow down, sit at a table with beautiful materials, and simply enjoy making something with our hands. Come Sit With Me is an invitation to do just that. Join me in my studio for a creative day spent exploring colour, working with textiles, and enjoying the company of other makers.
For this class, I’ve put together a full kit, with four colourways to choose from: red, light blue, yellow and green to make the project your own. Each has its own character, and I love how changing the colours can give a project an entirely different personality.
There is something special about creating alongside others, sharing ideas, discovering little details, and enjoying the conversations that happen naturally when we gather around a worktable.
If you are looking for a creative day in a welcoming studio environment, I would love for you to come and sit with me!
Visit my website to find the class details and choose your colourway.

Embroidered Rocks — November 19
A three-hour online workshop via Zoom
Have you ever looked at an ordinary stone and imagined what it might become with a little thread and imagination?
Stones have such wonderful shapes, colours, and textures. By adding embroidery, we can transform these small natural objects into something unexpected, creating a lovely contrast between the solidity of the stone and the softness of the thread.
In this three-hour online workshop, we’ll make rocks and explore ways to approach stitching on rocks and discover how a simple found object can become a small piece of textile art.
You will receive a supply list ahead of class so you can gather what you need. As with my other online workshops, the aim is to work with materials you may already have at home, without needing to purchase an entirely new collection of supplies.
Join me on Zoom for a little experimentation, a little stitching, and a chance to look at an everyday object in a completely different way.

A note for my readers in the United States: If you are interested in purchasing an optional kit for any of these classes, please contact me through my website. I’ll be happy to explore shipping options and confirm the costs with you before you decide whether to proceed.
Colour and Stitch with Inktense Pencils — November 21
An online workshop with Tatter NY
I’m delighted to be teaching Colour and Stitch with Inktense Pencils for Tatter NY!
If you enjoy exploring colour on fabric and discovering new ways to bring it into your textile work, this workshop is for you. We’ll experiment with Inktense pencils, learn how to activate the colour on fabric using aloe vera, and explore the possibilities of combining colour with hand stitching.
I love the way colour and thread can work together. A little colour can establish a mood or suggest a form, while stitching adds texture, detail, and a personal touch. The possibilities are wonderfully varied, and experimenting with these materials can lead us in unexpected directions.
This live online workshop takes place via Zoom on November 21, from noon to 2:30 p.m. Eastern time. A recording will be available.
A class kit containing the cotton fabric with the printed design, Inktense Pencils by Derwent, and additional materials will be provided separately and shipped to you before class.
If you’ve been curious about using Inktense pencils in your textile art, or you’re looking for new ways to combine colour and stitch, I hope you’ll join us!

Visit Tatter NY to find the workshop details and register.
I love teaching because it gives me an opportunity to share the materials and techniques that excite me, but also because I get to spend time with people who are curious about making things.
You don’t need a studio full of supplies or years of experience to join most of these workshops. I’ll provide a supply list ahead of time, and you can gather your materials and prepare your workspace before we meet. My hope is that you’ll come ready to experiment, discover something new, and enjoy the process.
Whether we meet online or around the table in my studio, I look forward to creating with you. I hope to see you in class!
Thanks for reading. Until I write again,
Ana
