Welcoming 2025 with Open Arms
As 2024 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on a year full of creativity, connection, and countless moments of inspiration, and I want to take a moment to thank all of you – fellow creatives – for being a part of it.
In 2024, my work was created by exploring new techniques and expanding my horizons, both literally and figuratively. Travels to Sicily and Portugal not only brought unforgettable experiences but also ignited fresh ideas that will continue to find their way into future projects. From the intricate patterns of traditional Portuguese tiles to the now familiar shapes of the old clay olive oil and wine vessels, to the magical twinkling lights and festive spirit of European winter markets, every encounter added a new layer of texture and depth to my creative practice.
Back in the studio, this year was about embracing slow stitching, revisiting sketchbooks, and experimenting with compositions that challenged and inspired me. Teaching workshops and connecting with students reminded me of the endless possibilities that come with sharing creativity. Thank you to everyone who participated in my classes and projects; your enthusiasm keeps the creative flame alive.
Of course, like any year, 2024 had its challenges. A few bumps along the way reminded me of the importance of perseverance and finding joy in the small things, whether it was a quiet moment with hand stitching or the spark of an idea while sipping Glühwein at a market stall. These moments kept me grounded and grateful.
As we step into 2025, I’m filled with excitement for what lies ahead. A new year always brings the promise of fresh starts, and I’m looking forward to exploring new projects. Whether it’s trying new techniques, teaching, or simply creating for the joy of it, 2025 feels like a blank canvas waiting to be filled.
To all of you who have followed along, supported my work, or shared your own creative journeys with me, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. May the new year bring you inspiration, joy, and plenty of time for making art. Here’s to another year of stitching, experimenting, and embracing the beauty of creativity together.
Until I write again, I wish you all a Happy New Year filled with colour and possibility!
