A Simple Mother’s Day … and Pizza!

I hope you all had a beautiful Mother’s Day yesterday, filled with warmth, connection, and moments – big or small – that made you feel loved and appreciated.

Mother’s Day always means different things to different people. It’s for mothers, those becoming mothers, mother figures, potential mothers and even the devoted caregivers of furry companions who bring so much love into our lives.

For me, it was a simple and happy day spent with my children. I had been craving homemade pizza, so that’s exactly what we did. Ale took charge of the pizza oven outside, preparing and baking everything while I happily stepped into the role of enthusiastic observer (and taste tester), reminded once again how much fresh ingredients make all the difference.

My highlight, of course, was my own pizza – a warm memory of a similar one eaten in Sicily – fresh tomatoes, melted cheese, and anchovies. I know, I know … what can I say … Yummm!

But the most touching surprise of the day was a gift my children organized for me through my daughter. She commissioned a local artist to create a stained glass piece inspired by my own rock work. The artwork features four colourful rocks against a white textured background made of different pieces of glass; she carefully chose the glass for each rock to reflect the hand-dyed fabrics and textures I often use in my textile pieces.

It was thoughtful, personal, and deeply moving – one of those gifts that carries not only beauty, but love and understanding as well.

I hope your day, in whatever form it took, was filled with something meaningful and that you were able to find a small moment to celebrate yourself.

Thanks for reading. Until I write again … enjoy the warmth of the coming days,

Ana
