Giving Thanks
Happy Thanksgiving!
I have a lot to be thankful for. For sure. My family, my grandson and my friends. My art and my passion. My books. Fabric, threads, scissors and pins. My thoughts and dreams. Inspiration and ideas to turn into new work. They all contribute to make my life a happy one.
But today, in particular, I get to be thankful for whomever was watching over me while I was leaving the supermarket on Saturday. When I tripped and fell. And hit my hand on the concrete floor trying to break my fall, and my head on the door when it failed to open – my stumbles took me to the wrong door :( To whomever was watching over me – my heartfelt thank you. Whether it was an angel, a loved one, or a guiding presence, I know that things could have been much worse. I’m grateful that it was only a sprained wrist and not something more serious. In that moment, I felt both vulnerable and strangely protected.
I must have good bones because I came out of it with a badly sprained left wrist and a broken nail. It could have been much worse as the kind doctor at the clinic told me after examining both hands. It seems that I damaged the ligaments but didn’t break anything. X-ray results on Tuesday to confirm.
I’m also thankful for the young man who found me on the floor and helped me up. And to the supermarket employee who made sure I was Ok to drive home and brought my bags to the car. There’s kindness in the world, still.
So now, I get to be patient while I give my wrist a change to heal while I keep it in a spica splint. Uncomfortable for sure. But way better than the alternative. And in a few days, I’ll see if it’s possible for me to hold my work in my left hand while I sew with my right :)
Thank you for all of you – too – who read my posts every week and take the time to comment. I couldn’t do this without you. Now, I’m off to ice my wrist.
Until I write gain, I hope you get to spend some time with family and friends,
Ana

Ana, yes each and everyone of us has something to be thankful for. I recently fell while riding my bike. Nothing broken but bruised knee and scraped up knee that is taking a good bit of time to heal. But all is well. Glad you were surrounded by helpful people. It renews ones faith in others. Take care, Lorna
Thank you. I hope that you keep getting better.
Speedy recovery
Thank you
Dear Ana,
Nothing is worse than an unanticipated fall! There certainly was a guardian angel with you on Saturday!
Ana, I hope you have a speedy recovery. If you have trouble sewing, maybe a pencil or a drawing tablet will be easier to use. You can dream up ideas for your next projects post recovery. Drawing puts you into the brain mode that has no clock. You won’t notice time passing so you won’t stress about wasting time while you are healing. I think that you are also less aware of pain in that mode. Jigsaw puzzles also work.
Thank you. All good ideas
