Wool batting – new sample

Another new sample, this time using 100% Tuscany Wool by Hobbs.  The fabric is silk Dupioni and the thread is Wonderfil Rayon, 40 weight.  I used a deep burgundy to quilt the feather and a color close to the background for background filling all in straight lines.  Everything was done with a free-motion foot and the feed dogs down.

Enjoy!

Apologies about the colors.  The actual color of the silk is closer to the one in the last photo.  Difficult to photograph at night … but it gives you an idea of what the design looks like.

The wool allows the quilting to stand out and have more definition as the wool has quite a bit of loft, but it is very flat when quilted densely and tightly as in my sample above.  If you have never quilted with wool, give it a try; you’ll love it as it quilts beautifully.

Thanks for reading and keep quilting.
