To England and Back

After a 10-year absence, I finally made it back to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham — one of my favourite events in the world of textiles and quilting. It was just as inspiring, energetic, and creatively charged as I remembered.

I decided to sign up for two short and quick workshops while I was there: one exploring 3-D embellishments (1.5 hours), and another on making a folded stitch book (1 hour) using paper and fabric. Both were hands-on and fun — and best of all, all materials were included, which made travel easy.

One thing I did pack was my stitch journal and a few small bits to work on during quiet moments and long rides on the bus. There’s something special about stitching while surrounded by so much creative energy and inspiration.

One of the highlights was seeing the incredible exhibits, full of texture, innovation, and unmistakable European flair. I also had some great conversations with artists and may have paid more than one visit to the vendor booths…

I’ll be back with photos and stories soon — but for now, just wanted to let you know how wonderful it was to be back in that space, surrounded by people who love fabric, thread, and stitching as much as I do.

Until I write again, thanks for reading,

Ana
