Art Evolved: Intertwined

I have one piece of work at the SAQA and NBO exhibit called “Art Evolved: Intertwined.” The exhibition has been installed at the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, Massachusetts where it will be on display from March 1 through August 31, 2025.

From the museum:
“In the hands of contemporary fibre artists, beauty and function seamlessly merge – and sometimes diverge – to create unexpected expressions. Art Evolved: Intertwined showcases the work of 59 makers who transform traditional materials like thread, fabric, wood, reed and paper into innovative and evocative art forms. Through skill, imagination and vision, they bridge the gap between tradition and modernity, offering fresh perspectives that deeply resonate in today’s world.
A collaborative exhibition by Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) and the National Basketry Association (NBO), Art Evolved: Intertwined explores the intersections of sculptural basketry and art quilts. Juried by an expert panel, the exhibition celebrates the ingenuity, technical mastery, and artistic vision of fibre artists who consistently expand the limits of their disciplines and the broader contemporary craft field.
Art Evolved: Intertwined invites viewers to discover how traditional fibre arts can transcend their historical roots to engage with contemporary ideas. Featuring 29 quilts, the exhibition explores personal identity, innovation, and sociopolitical themes, redefining conceptual and technical possibilities. Alongside them, 30 sculptural baskets challenge expectations through inventive forms, materials and methods. By uniting these disciplines, Art Evolved: Intertwined redefines fibre art as a dynamic space where tradition and bold innovation come together in fresh, thought-provoking ways.
Fuller Craft Museum thanks SAQA and NBO for sharing this exhibition with museum audiences. we further acknowledge jurors Jane Sauer, Lisa Ranello and Beth McLaughlin for their contributions to this endeavor. Finally, abundant gratitude is extended to Leonard J. Kreppel, Rockland Trust, and the Brockton Cultural Council for their generous support of this exhibition.”
Below are a few photos from the exhibit.

On the photo below you can see my piece “The Prairies Changing Landscape”, on the wall. It is the first time I’ve seen photos of the piece in the exhibition.

There is a catalogue you can purchase if you are interested.

I am sad that I won’t be able to see the exhibit in the museum, but I hope that if you are in the area you will take some time to visit and see the exhibit.
I will be away for a few weeks, so my blogging might be sporadic, but I will try and do my best to share what I’m doing and things I’m seeing.
Until I write again, keep creating and enjoy the warm days (at least here in Calgary).
