A bit of this and a lot of that …
Good morning from chilly Calgary! It seems that winter has arrived with a vengeance. The sun’s shining brightly and the air is crisp; a -32 degrees Celsius windchill factor this morning with a high of -20 degrees C for today and the rest of the week. Brrrrr … but it’s feeling quite like Christmas.
Are you ready? I am not, well, not really … still undecided on some of the gifts, still have a few to make, gifts to wrap, stuff to purchase, plans to make … usual for this time of the year. And you? what are you making this year? Are you working on presents? Baking?
Here’s a view of some work in progress. Small art quilt for a gift exchange. Still a long way to go and a few days left on which to get it done. Can someone guess that I work well under pressure?
I will post a photo of the finished product next week. Still a lot of hand stitching to do, beading, and whatever else I can think of at the last minute. Ah … the binding is missing too!
I had promised a few photos from Houston, and I never posted. It seems that it was so long ago, considering that we are already preparing for the 2017 Festival in November 2017. And last, but not least … an image of the Best of show prize winner, Cynthia England with “Reflections of Cape Town”. Cynthia is from Dickinson, Texas. The quilt took approximately 1 year to make and it has 8,400 individual pattern pieces in it. Hand appliqued and machine quilted. Yes, you read correctly! approximately 8,400 pattern pieces. It was stunning!
