Monoprinting in Layers – November 19 at 9:00 a.m. Mountain

Description

Discover the magic of monoprinting and create your own unique, painterly fabrics!

Monoprinting combines the spontaneity of paint with the wonderful surprises of printmaking, resulting in rich, layered surfaces full of colour, texture and unexpected marks. Unlike other printmaking techniques, each print is one of a kind.

In this three-hour workshop, you will explore the possibilities of printing with water-based paints on a gelatin plate (Gelli plate). We will cover the basics and experiment with layering, masking, multiple-drop printing and colour mixing, discovering how each technique can transform your fabric into something entirely unique.

Whether you are a quilter, a mixed-media artist or simply curious about working with colour and texture, you will leave with a collection of printed fabrics ready to inspire your next creative project. The techniques can also be used on paper to create wonderful collage materials.

The workshop fee includes a booklet filled with instructions and photographs to help you continue exploring long after the class is over.

A little word of warning: monoprinting is great fun… and very addictive!

Optional class recording

A recording of the live workshop is available to registered students for an additional $25. You can add the recording when you register, whether or not you are able to attend the live class. The recording is not available for purchase separately by those who are not registered for the class.
