News from my studio
Can you believe it’s Halloween? So Happy Halloween everyone! Whether you dress up and celebrate, decorate, hand out candy … or eat candy, I hope everyone has a safe day. I, for one, have the candy bowl ready to go, the lights will be on, and I look forward to seeing the children walking down the street in their costumes. Snow is coming … fingers crossed it waits until the children are back safely home.
A few things I want to share with you that are coming up in the next few weeks:
First, 5 pieces of my work have gone to Leighton Art Centre for the Festive Foothills Art Sale (formerly Country Christmas Art Sale). I am very excited and a bit – a lot – nervous. It’s always exciting to have some work showing in a gallery setting, but it’s also nerve-wracking because you never know how it will be received. The fact that I love my work has nothing to do with anything LOL. I invite you to visit the gallery – in person if possible between November 5th and December 21st – or online – between November 10th and December 21st. It’s a great time to buy some art for the Holidays.
Second, the segments I taped for The Quilt Show when I visited in August will be aired on November 7th. You can sign up for The Quilt Show Newsletter here to stay informed on what’s coming up. You can even join a 7-day free trial and watch some shows for free before making a decision to join. I’ll keep you posted as soon as I hear more details.
Third, Save the Date!!! Registration for Create2Flourish will open on November 21st and remain open for a few days. Once registration closes, it won’t open again for another 6 months. Don’t miss the opportunity to join a great group of like-minded people who are eager to learn and share. We have a great community and we get together in a private Facebook group as well as live online. You will get access to tutorial videos on different subjects such as Finding and working with Inspiration, Colour, Mark making and so much more! Inspiration videos keep you informed and inspired every month. I look forward to welcoming to Create2Flourish.
I have a full schedule in the next few weeks and months, right until the holidays. If you are looking for classes, check QuiltFest Virtual Schoolhouse #3 – there’s still time to join. I am teaching a class on Wednesday November 2nd on Free-motion quilting and painting with Inktense Pencils, and a class on Friday November 4th on Embellished Rocks – which is a great one to get started and do some work to have ready for road trips and plane trips, and long nights in front of the fire. All work done by hand with few supplies. Check it out!
In the New Year, I am teaching at Craft Napa. You can still sign up for classes here. I am teaching three workshops in January – 2 of which are full. You can put your name down if you’d like to take the class as they may organize a second one if there’s enough interest. I hope you’ll join me.
I will be back with more thoughts, inspiration and musings from my studio next week, on Mondays as usual. I wish every one a week of creative endeavours. Until I write again, keep creating – and eat some candy!
