International Quilt Festival: Quilt Scene 2011
The new issue of International Quilt Festival has been out for a few weeks now.
Don’t miss my article titled “The Big Decision – How to Quilt your Quilt”, where I talk about the process I go through to define the quilting designs on a quilt.
I am off to practice some new ones to add to my design sketchbook. And remember that quilting, like anything else, is a matter of practice.
Keep a fabric sandwich with your favorite batting beside your sewing machine so you can practice 15 minutes every time you sit down to work. Try new doodles, something old, some variation of the ones you like. Remember to draw them on paper first, so your brain and your hand get used to the movement. Then, when you go to try them on fabric you are already familiar with the movement and how the design flows.
